MISSION STATEMENT

The Metropolitan Officials Association (MOA) is an organization of minority sports officials based in the Chicagoland area. The MOA was founded in 1962 through the efforts of three prominent high school basketball coaches, Larry Hawkins, Will Bonner, and Jim Foreman, along with Malcolm Hemphill and other black officials who worked the high school conferences. The MOA was formed initially with less than ten members. Today it has grown into one of the largest minority sports officials associations in the United States. The current membership is in excess of one hundred members.
